Inspired by FREEdom

And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
~Lee Greenwood

I was recently asked to contribute to Gravy SD’s “Monday Morning Work Inspiration” Spot. The first thing that came to my mind was the 4th of July…and my FREEdom to create! This is what I wrote:

My inspiration comes from so many places…the color of the sky, what side of the bed I wake up on or the sound of the ocean on an early morning stroll. However, this Monday, I am inspired by the FREEDOM to inspire to do and be anything that I want to be. How amazing it is that we have the ability to dream and create anything we want in this beautiful country we live in.

I often look at an American Flag that was given to us by a dear Marine family who lived in our neighborhood during 2 tours in Iraq. This family exemplified the sacrifice that so many have made for me and you! This flag was proudly flown over the Iraqi desert on the anniversary of September 11th! WOW! It still gives me chills when I think about that image…scorching desert, dust, proud marines, and my flag! So, every national holiday, we fly this special flag to remember and thank all of those who have served to allow me to create and play with paints, colors and clay! What an amazing gift! The gift to freely inspire to be anything!

Happy Fourth of July! Celebrate in our freedom!

Today my flag flies high!! Thank you Scotts for all you do!

4th of July Plate

Today my first online “deal” began with Plum District.  Yipee!

It inspired me to paint this 4th of July Plate which was featured by my supplier Bisque Imports. I love working on plates. They are a blank canvas where you can get super creative.

First cut out different sized stars of your choice and trace on the bisque plate.

Next, paint the stars white.  I know it looks light blue but after firing it will become a brilliant white!  I painted 2 coats.

Carefully paint blue around the stars and leave the rim white.  I painted the rim with 1 coat of white just to brighten it up.

Add text with a small brush or writer bottle.

Add red stripes around the rim.

Waaaa Laaaa!!!!  4th of July Plate!  Now a quick fire and it will be ready to celebrate Independence Day with cookies, cuppies or ribs!

What can you do with a plate?  or 4!  Grab the Plum District 4 pack deal!

Honoring our Daddies

“A man never stands as tall as when he kneels to help a child”~Knights of Pythagoras

Father’s Day is this Sunday!  A day we celebrate the men in our lives…our daddies, hubbies, brothers, uncles and grandfathers…So many wonderful men that work silently with out complaint to take care of our families!  Take time to honor these special men in your lives this weekend…beyond ties and BBQs.  Savor the tender moments that only a daddy can share with his child.

Devo had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with a group of Brownies from the Solana Beach area.  These kiddos created the sweetest creations for the special man in their lives…Dad!  The colors popped and their imaginations exploded!

We love you Dad!  HAPPY FATHERS DAY!
